Voices can be heard from behind the closed door of Kitagawa Johnny’s office. Harsh, loud voice came out, sometimes followed by soft, feminine voice and occasionally interrupted by whispered, young voices.
A bit further outside, eight members of Hey!Say!JUMP were waiting patiently (or impatiently, depends on whom) for their two remaining members to emerge from behind the door.
Few minutes of silence and the door quietly opened revealing Kitagawa Mary guiding out two young boys: Nakajima Yuto and Yamada Ryosuke.
The two eldest members, Yabu Kota and Takaki Yuuya quickly moved forward to comfort the younger ones. Without saying anything, Mary let them go, knowing that Yuto and Yamada needed the comfort from their group members.
As she closed the door behind her, she told her brother, “Would you calm down? Those are only rumours. They are only kids, anyway.”
Both Yabu and Takaki knew it was a wrong thing to say, as Yamada’s eyes narrowed and Yuto’s face darkened. “Kids, huh?” Yamada muttered, not talking to anyone in particular.
“So that’s how they look at us all these times,” Yuto said, eyes glancing briefly towards the older boy, getting only a nod as a reply.
The two older boys, who only watched up until now, knew something bad had happened in Johnny’s office.
Silently, Yabu put his hand on the small back of Yamada, while Takaki did the same to Yuto. Both looked up, giving small smiles to the two whom they looked up as their older brothers.
‘We’re still here for you, so are the rest of us,’ was the silent support they could give.
The four boys approached the anxiously waiting group. As soon as the older boys were within his reach, Chinen Yuri went up and hugged them tightly, his arms only reaching their waists. Morimoto Ryutaro held Yamada’s hand tightly, and Okamoto Keito put his hand on Yuto’s shoulder.
‘We are, and we will always be here for you,’ was what they said in their gestures.
Yamada hugged Chinen back with one arm and a hand tightened its hold on the youngest member’s hand. Yuto ruffled Chinen’s hair in an affectionate manner while putting one hand over Keito’s hand resting on his shoulder.
The remaining three Hey!Say!BEST members looked on, waiting for their younger counterparts to finish. Hey!Say!7 was emotionally attached to each other compared to the other subgroup.
When the group finally broke apart, Yaotome Hikaru, Arioka Daiki and Inoo Kei approached them with big smiles on their faces. “We don’t have any rehearsal today. Want to go out and have a group dinner together?” Hikaru asked in a cheerful voice.
‘If you need us, turn around and we’ll be there for you,’ were Hikaru’s silent words.
By then, Arioka and Kei had grasped Yamada and Yuto’s arms to drag them out of the building, talking loudly about where to go and going to karaoke later.
In less than a minute, the whole Hey!Say!JUMP had left the building, laughing and talking animatedly. Among them were Yamada and Yuto with big smiles on their faces. And in the many pairs of hands, theirs grasped each other’s tightly without any intention of letting go.
‘We are a group, and will always be there for each other as a group,’ was what in their minds as they walked away.
-----
Back in the building, a magazine was laid open on a small table outside of Johnny’s office. On the open page was an article that had started everything. A picture of Yuto and Yamada, sharing an umbrella and standing in close proximity of each other was shown clearly on top of the article.
However, the real focus of the article was a smaller picture that clearly showed Yuto kissing Yamada on the cheek and holding his hand. The article had caused a big commotion amongst the fans and the magazine in which the scandalous scoop was published sold out in just a few hours.
Yet, it was now left forgotten and ignored as it brought nothing but pain in the hearts of the ones who had read it earlier.
‘We will always support you for we love you as who you are,’ were the words echoing silently along every hallways of the building.
